Neuschwanstein Castle
Built on a craggy rock, commissioned by King Ludwig II and designed by Christian Jank. It lies in the middle of a picturesque mountain world.
It was to be built “in the true style of the old German knights’ castles”. From the outside, it is reminiscent of the romanticism of the 13th century.
Paintings and murals refer to the themes of Wagner’s music dramas.
