Rose Island
It used to be an unknown island with the name “Wörth Island”. In 1850 King Maximilian II of Bavaria bought the island.
The architect Franz Kreuter was commissioned to build the royal villa and design the rose garden. This rose garden gave the island its new name. The garden was restored in 2003 and today 80 different types of roses bloom on the small island.
In 1999 and 2001, 6000-year-old ceramic disks were found on the island. So the island has also become important for archaeologists.
